This project brings together small fragments of everyday life from downtown São Paulo and, almost as an ode, I’ve gathered here a few of its characters.
In contrast to the affection they inspire, my own representation emerges in a rougher form.
Perhaps this aggressiveness says more about us than it does about them.
It is within this exchange that the symbols of an ancestral friendship are born. Through the ritual of flagellation, we inscribe these beings onto the skin.
Within this mold and decay, we portray them as personal symbols, as keepsakes, as tributes to those who have always walked beside us.
